In Search of a Saint - In Search of a Saint is the second book on Fr. Antonio Margil de Jesus. He is this important to the history of East Texas and all of Texas, being one of its European founding fathers, but he is not credited with this. Only 20 years after Texas was given its name, he arrived at the Indian town of Nacogdoches in 1716 and taking this mission as his temporary headquarters, he established more missions near present San Augustine, the Los Adaes Mission near present Robeline, Louisiana, the world famous San Jose Mission at San Antonio and the La Bahia Mission below present Victoria - now moved to Goliad. Having been its founder, he represented the religious college at Zacatecus, Mexico. Three other East Texas missions were simultaneously founded by Fr. Felis Espinosa of the college at Queretero, Mexico. These three missions were moved down river from San Antonio and are still there (restored) for all to visit. Fr. Margi was commisary supervisor over all these, making him responsible for eight Texas missions in all. This new book is about the lasting contributions that he made and that can still be seen today – it contains many pictures from Mexico, Central America, Texas and even from Louisiana. It is non-sectarian and is inspirational to all. It is a rare, one-of-a-kind volume to be cherished. It contains several hundred pages printed on large 8½ by 11 paper.
